Z hradu Kašperk

The highest-situated castle in Bohemia (886 m above sea level) was founded in 1356 by the Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV. It protected the goldbearing areas, the border with Bavaria, and safety on the trading path. The castle itself has two residential towers of the same height, and a palace. The castle has never been seized. The romantic castle in the Šumava forests attracts visitors from all around, from the western tower you can have one of the most wonderful views of the Šumava.
